The pitfalls of running a lettings business

Successfully launching a business is like winning a battle, but the war is never over.

As employers, we get to regularly read social posts about toxic workplaces, toxic bosses, working from home, work/life balance, being ‘overworked and underpaid’, ‘knowing your worth’, 4 day working weeks, flexible holidays… and such other things. And we’re sure their rants are justified.

But rarely does anyone stick up for those who start the business, build the economy and create the employment:

👉🏻 You took the risk
👉🏻 You invested your money to get it off the ground
👉🏻 You created the jobs
👉🏻 You support the livelihoods
👉🏻 You take your work home with you
👉🏻 Your name is above the door if the sh*t hits the fan
👉🏻 You have no employment rights
👉🏻 You’d pay your team before you’d pay yourself
👉🏻 Your customer is your boss and they can treat you however they like and bin you without any explanation

Running a business is hard work. Particularly a lettings business where legislation is constantly changing and there becomes increasingly more balls to juggle.

Without a sizeable team focusing on the various areas, it becomes tricky to keep on top of it all. There’s no shame in pivoting and going in another direction that better suits your lifestyle.

We’re actively purchasing the portfolios of East Yorkshire letting agents who are ready for change and taking on different challenges.

Our infrastructure enables us to move at pace and successfully acquire the management of rental properties in a way that benefits you (the seller), your customers, your team and our business. If you’d like a confidential chat, contact spencer@synergyforward.co.uk
